School House Ridge

Featuring Dave Anderson, Killian Haugh and Brian O'Connor

As I do most Januarys, I decided to meet up with my old university climbing club on their annual pilgrimage to Scotland. It was on a similar trip back in '08 that I first cut my teeth in winter and that my love of the mountains was firmly set in stone. As the guys were out on training I had no one to play with so decided to grab my camera and tag along. Killian and Brian were heading out with my friend Dave an aspirant MIC based in Fort William.

Our objective for the day was Schoolhouse Ridge above Ballachulish, a fantastic day out in summer or winter. Starting from the school (see where it gets its name) we made our way up a farm track, the threat of drizzle ever present. Luckily for us, as we got higher so did the clouds and we were gifted with clear views.

I was keen not to interfere with the guys training as this was there day, not mine. As such, I didn't give them any direction instead opting to buzz around them like a blue-arsed fly. I'd been up the ridge a few times before although this was by far the nicest weather I've encountered. In the end, I came away with a few nice images and we made it back down before the rain arrived.
